In many areas of engineering the report of infrared measurement is standardized in EN 13187.
Maybe some thermographs are not familiar with this.
The inspection of buildings and the location of the leakage are performed by using high tech
devices. The damage of a pipe-defect is easily and specifically discovered by using the infrared
techniques. Therefore the occurring costs of restoration works are lowered extremely by using
thermography
A part from big water damages, other – more hidden – problems could occur and therefore should
be paid attention to. Such problems could be small and hidden leakage defects in pipe systems,
further in sewage pipes, heating pipes as well as in floor heating.

Other problems can be:

apparent defects on different technical crews
e.g. work of drywall installation, statics, planning, the tinsmith, roofer, carpenter,
black-top paver, brickwork, window installation work etc.

leakiness on the roofs, terraces and flat roofs |

draught in the living areas |

mould in the living areas |

condensation water on the vitrification |

rooms will not become really warm |

leakiness in the pipe-systems |

Measurement of thermography / measuring technique with
infrared as well as air-tightness / differential pressure
The building inspection becomes more important when the Blower-door technique is used and
the inside room is under low pressure. This way the graphic images become more important
and more informative. The measurement with the infrared system of thermal differences / thermal
bridges in or on building elements or surfaces of elements play an important role in showing
possible defects such as mould in rooms.
In addition to the thermography the air-tightness of the building will be proved within legal limits
of the observance by the Blower-door.
